The Safiuddin Bengal Printmaking Studio, set among the vibrant green of the Bengal Centre on Airport Road in Dhaka, was established in 2012 to make art more available and affordable. The Studio is named after the Bangladeshi pioneer in printmaking.
Printmaking is the creation of art by transferring ink from a metal plate or other matrix on to a sheet of paper. It has been gaining popularity as an artform in Bangladesh since the 1960s.
As the printmaking process enables reprints (including varied reprints) to be created from a plate, it offers a less expensive option for art lovers to collect the works of masters.
The prints produced in the Bengal Safiuddin Studio are available at the Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts, Bengal Art Lounge and Aranya.
